microphilharmonic:
Brahms & Mozart

Sunday, October 28, 2018 4:00PM
Shedd Jaqua Concert Hall

Brahms & Mozart Brahms originally composed his Serenade No. 1 in D Major, Op. 11, for a nonet of four strings and five winds, and it received accolades at the first performance in 1859. Nevertheless, Brahms destroyed the score and parts after he recomposed it for full orchestra, the final version that is so beloved today. A hybrid symphony-concerto, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in Eb Major is a brilliant showpiece for solo violin and solo viola and orchestra. In the spirit of performing large works arranged for small forces, microphilharmonic will perform a new arrangement for chamber ensemble by artistic director Michael Anderson. Soloists will be co-director Alice Blankenship and UO School of Music viola professor Arnaud Ghillebaert. [Info]
