Pal Joey Based on John O'Hara's 1940 epistolary novel of the same name (who also wrote the show's libretto), Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart's Pal Joey tells the story of a small time nightclub emcee...a slice of low-life Chicago in the 1940s set to some of the best songs of the decade, headed up by "Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered" and "I Could Write A Book" and including such intriguing specialty numbers as "Zip".
