Michael Anderson and the microphilharmonic present four pieces from the mid-20th century American canon: Samuel Barber's 1953 Summer Music, Igor Stravinsky's 1938 Dumbarton Oaks, and three pieces for voice featuring soprano Siri Vik: Aaron Copland's 1923 setting of Elizabethan poet Richard Barnsworth's "As It Fell Upon A Day", Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 (1947), and Susannah's aria "The Trees On The Mountain" from Carlisle Floyd's 1955 opera Susannah.[more info]
