Siri Vik
The Seven Deadly Sins
Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, 1928-33
Siri Vik welcomes choreographer Caitlin Christopher, conductor Robert Ashens, director William Hulings and corps for an exploration of the short, difficult, yet powerful collaboration of composer Kurt Weill (1900-50) and poet/playwright Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956). In the program's first set, Vik presents work from throughout that collaboration, from The Three Penny Opera (1928), Happy End !929), and The Rise And Fall of the City of Mahogonny (1930). In the second set the company presents a faithful re-creation of Brecht and Weill's final work, The Seven Deadly Sins of the Petty Bourgeoisie (1933).
